I've had an emotionally "blah" day today and don't feel like freely giving anything very internally personal right now that can be turned around on me, so I decided I'll do an "Ask Me Monday".
That's right, anything you might want to ask me, go ahead (in the comments section) and I'll try to answer. Want to know my favorite food? My most prized possession? How we came up with Karleigh's name? My shoe size? or something slightly deeper? Go ahead. Don't be afraid.
I'll come back and answer them in the comments section... at least that's my plan.
Never fear, I was still productive (not to be confused with reproductive). I got Karleigh's floor painted with a nice fresh coat of paint for under her new area rug, her dresser in her room and the old one out (we'll credit for that goes to Jim), some laundry done and some folded, books read with the kids and soaked up a little bit of natural vitamin D from the sun today!
psst... I'm, otherwise, pretty boring though so if you want to wait until I've got something "good" that's ok too! ;)

Actually, I really am interested in how you decided on the name Karleigh. I think it's such a cute name, but had never thought of spelling it like that until I saw your blog. It's really cute that way! Oh, I'm Amy, by the way. :)
Hi Amy! Karleigh was going to be Aubrey up until I was about 7 months pregnant or so. I busted out crying in the car one day and said "I can't name her that, she doesn't FEEL like an Aubrey!" So, my husband calmly (and probably somewhat fearfully) said, "then don't... what about Karleigh?" (or whatever spelling he had in his mind at the time)I instantly loved it.
And here is where the spelling came from: My grandfather's name was Carl, my husband has a cousin (who has been like a little sister to me since I met her when she was just 12 and was the Maid of Honor at our wedding) and her middle name is Leigh. We decided that we liked "K" better than "C" (like me!) and so all smooshed together, we got Karleigh... a very normal name with a kind of abnormal spelling. Turns out, it's fun and quirky just like she is. In no way is she an "Aubrey" :)
Hi stranger... I was just wondering the next time you drive right through our town (Coeur d'Alene). Will you let a sister know??? j/k LOL It would be nice to see and to meet your family.
Always praying for you.... Carolann
Maybe this spring/summer... goodness knows we need to make sure not everyone is snowed in right! :P But at the latest we want to catch a Griz game in Missoula around October. Doesn't that sound SO long away!?!?
Ok so now that we know how you got the girl name. what about the boys? How did you come to their names?
-h
Ah, the boy names... much easier. It went kind of like this: I heard Rylan's name on TV. That's a cute name I think to myself. Shortly after that we find out that he is a "he", I suggest it to Jim since it fit our "rules" and it was a go! When we went in to deliver Eli, we had been told to expect a girl. When he was born, he was clearly a "he" and Eli was the only name that came to mind at the moment. After we thought about it, it also fit our rules and when we got home from the hospital, I looked it up and it means "to ascend". Collin's name, we had picked out very early. It wasn't until after we lost him that I looked up the meaning and it means "dove".
Afer we went through so much thought naming Karleigh, to try to make sure it had lots of meaning to us, we decided to just name anyone else that might come along with names that we like and are drawn to at the time. :)
What is your favorite thing about Jim? About Karleigh? About Rylan?
LOL, sorry it took so long to get back to this! That's a tough question... Jim: his ability to know what I'm thinking without me having to say a word, it just takes a look. Karleigh: her constant drive for knowledge and she gives the best hugs in the world. Rylan: the fact that even being a 'big boy' he still loves to cuddle and watching him explode, verbally, every day.
